The Free State of Bavaria supports open all-day programs at schools. Open all-day school programs are approved upon application by the school authority.

Purpose

In order to enable parents and guardians to reconcile family and career as well as appropriate forms of family division of labor, open all-day schools offer families not only care, but also educational support. However, Bavaria is not only sending out a socio-political signal with open all-day schools, but is above all focusing on educational goals. The open all-day school is an educational offer with a distinct quality of content. More time is available for extended educational and support opportunities. Open all-day schools in Bavaria are committed to the triad of education, upbringing and care.

Object

The Free State of Bavaria provides funding to cover the additional personnel costs for open all-day school programs at state and municipal schools as well as independent schools.

Type and amount

Depending on the type of school, the grant per open all-day group (until 4 p.m.) and school year currently amounts to between €28,610.00 and €46,224.00 at municipal schools and independent schools. State schools receive a budget per group and school year of between36,520.00 and54,134.00 euros, which includes a municipal co-financing lump sum of currently 7,910.00 euros.

Short groups in the open all-day program (grades 1-4) at municipal schools and independent schools are funded with an amount of EUR 7,202.00. Short groups in the open all-day program at state schools receive a budget of 14,404.00 euros, which also includes a share of 7,202.00 euros from the material expenditure provider.

Recipient of the grant

The funding is paid to the school expenditure provider or cooperation partner.

The funding of an open all-day school program requires, among other things, that

• an all-day program is provided for pupils on at least four days of the week, generally until 4 p.m,
• lunch is provided for the participating pupils on all days of the all-day school program and
• the educational and support services are organized and carried out under the supervision and responsibility of the school management and are conceptually linked to the lessons.

The application for the establishment of an open all-day school program must be prepared by the school management. The application must be submitted by the school (cost) provider to the responsible government by the application deadline set each year for the following school year - in the case of elementary school and secondary schools via the state education authorities or via the offices of the ministerial representatives in the case of secondary schools and grammar schools, and directly in the case of business schools and special schools.

The state education authorities and offices of the ministerial commissioners forward the applications to the responsible government.

The governments are responsible, among other things, for approving and authorizing the open all-day school offer, for paying out the funding and checking the proof of use.
