Specialist centers for family caregivers primarily provide psychosocial advice and support for family caregivers of elderly people in need of care. Their providers can receive a grant as part of project funding.
Purpose
The purpose of the funding is to ensure a permanent, nationwide service for family caregivers that complements care advice in accordance with Section 7a SGB XI or care management in accordance with Section 11 (4) SGB V. In addition to relatives, other non-working carers and older people in need of care can also receive advice.
Object
The task of the specialist centers for family caregivers is to provide ongoing psychosocial advice to family caregivers in open cooperation with all those involved in the care network, to accompany them (also in the long term) and to support them with relief services.
Recipients of funding
Recipients of funding are primarily the associations of independent welfare services and their affiliated organizations, non-profit foundations and private providers, insofar as they carry out work with relatives and employ specialists.
Eligible expenditure
Personnel and material expenses of the specialist unit.

The state grant is awarded as fixed-amount funding within the framework of project funding. The possible funding lump sum is based on the number of eligible specialists employed by the specialist unit. For a full-time specialist, the lump sum is up to 24,000.00 euros per year.
