The evening secondary school leads working people to a secondary school leaving certificate in three or four years. You decide on a group of compulsory electives in the first year of school. You must register with the evening secondary school of your choice.

The evening secondary school leads working people to a secondary school certificate in three or four years. Lessons are taught according to the Realschule curriculum. However, the number of subjects is smaller.

Lessons usually take place in the evening. It comprises 17 to 20 lessons per week. In the final year, lessons can also be held during the day.

The educational focus depends on the profile subject of the compulsory elective subject group that is chosen when starting school. In addition to German, English and mathematics, the final examination is taken in physics, business administration/accounting or social studies, depending on the subject group offered by the respective school.

Admission requirements:

• Minimum age of 17 years
• Successful completion of secondary school or fulfillment of compulsory full-time schooling by attending another school
• Completed vocational training or regular employment of at least two years
• Professional activity while attending school
