The Free State of Bavaria supports the construction and renovation of sports facilities that sports clubs need for the direct sports activities of their members.
Purpose
The purpose of providing investment grants is to enable sports clubs to build and maintain their own sports facilities, which they need for the direct sports activities of their members.
Object
Funding is provided for new buildings, conversions and extensions to sports facilities owned by the clubs and, if necessary, for the acquisition of a property and general repairs. The prerequisite is that the facility is required for the direct sports activities of the club members.
Recipients of funding
Sports clubs that are members of a recognized umbrella organization are eligible to apply.
Type and amount
The grants are awarded as project-related subsidies by way of fixed-amount financing and as loans.
The funding rate is up to 30 percent of the eligible costs, of which up to 20 percent is a grant and up to 10 percent is a low-interest loan. Applications with eligible costs of up to EUR 250,000 (so-called small applications) can be funded with a grant of up to 20 percent of the eligible costs.
- detailed project description

- Expenditure and financing plan
- Demonstration of sustainable financial performance
- Declaration that the measure has not yet been started
- Declaration as to whether the recipient of the grant is entitled to deduct input tax in general or for the project in question in accordance with Section 15 of the German Turnover Tax Act (UStG)
An essential prerequisite for funding is the proven need for the planned sports facilities and their use in accordance with the purpose on which the funding is based. All projects are therefore subject to a criteria-based review, which allows a differentiated assessment of the eligibility of the measures applied for by weighting qualitative aspects.
Important and indispensable prerequisites for funding include the sponsorship of the applicant association with regard to all construction measures applied for and, in principle, ownership or heritable building rights to the funded properties. Public procurement law must be observed; for total grants of less than EUR 100,000 (all public funding), the associations are exempt from the strict formal requirements of public procurement law. The generally applicable grant law provisions, such as the approval of a premature start of measures, the minimum own contribution of 10 percent and the criteria for determining the eligible costs, are specified in the sports funding guidelines.
Applications for funding from member clubs of the Bayerischer Landes-Sportverband e. V. (BLSV) must be submitted to the BLSV. Applications for funding from member clubs of all other umbrella organizations must be submitted to the responsible government.
