Berufliche Oberschule; Anmeldung

Registration is required to attend a vocational secondary school.

In Bavaria, the Fachoberschule (FOS) and Berufsoberschule (BOS) school types are combined under the umbrella of the Berufliche Oberschule (or FOSBOS).

The Berufliche Oberschule leads pupils with an intermediate school leaving certificate and/or completed vocational training - depending on the individual's previous education and the desired qualification - in one, two or three years to the Fachabitur (entrance qualification for universities of applied sciences) or the Abitur (subject-specific or general higher education entrance qualification).

Vocational secondary school

The Berufsoberschule (BOS) is based on an intermediate school-leaving certificate and a vocational qualification or several years of professional experience in the relevant field. In justified exceptional cases, a change of course is possible after a counseling interview at a Berufsoberschule. The Berufsoberschule provides a general and theoretical education. It comprises grades 12 and 13 and can also be attended part-time.

Preliminary courses (part-time) and preliminary classes (full-time, also for catching up on the intermediate school-leaving certificate) are offered before entering the Berufsoberschule.

The Berufsoberschule generally concludes with the Abitur examination and awards the subject-specific higher education entrance qualification as well as the general higher education entrance qualification upon proof of the necessary knowledge of a second foreign language.

Pupils in year 12 can take the Fachabitur examination to obtain the Fachhochschulreife. The two-year online course "Virtuelle Berufsoberschule Bayern (VIBOS)" also leads to the Fachhochschulreife as a special form of Berufsoberschule.

Technical college
