Establishments, companies or facilities that handle other radioactive substances must report the acquisition and release of radioactive substances to the competent authority.
The holder of a license to handle other radioactive substances in accordance with the Radiation Protection Act is obliged to notify the Bavarian State Office for the Environment (LfU) as the competent authority of the acquisition or release of radioactive substances within one month when handling radioactive substances. The type and activity of the substances must also be stated.
Other radioactive substances are primarily radioactive substances that are not nuclear fuels. A license in accordance with the Atomic Energy Act is required for handling the latter. Exceptions are small quantities of nuclear fuels, which are considered other radioactive substances under certain conditions.
- The following documents must be submitted:
- in the case of the purchase of sealed radioactive substances: source certificate
- for the delivery of other radioactive substances requiring authorization for further use: confirmation of receipt
- for delivery as radioactive waste to the Bavarian collection point for radioactive materials: application and consignment bill as well as the accompanying sheet from the Bavarian state collection point
- Certificate that the packaging is leakproof and free of contamination
You are the holder of a license to handle other radioactive substances in accordance with the Radiation Protection Act.
Notification of the acquisition and disposal of other radioactive substances must be submitted to the LfU.
The notification can be submitted informally by post and/or e-mail or electronically using the wizard for notification of the acquisition and disposal of radioactive substances (see "Online procedure").
The LfU checks the completeness of the documents and, if necessary, requests the submission of missing documents within a reasonable period of time.
The acquisition and/or disposal of other radioactive substances must be reported to the LfU within one month of acquisition or disposal.
