Teaser

The recognition of a search team must be applied for by the search leader to the competent government.

Volltext

If injured game moves to a neighboring hunting ground, the game tracking regulations set out in Art. 37 of the Bavarian Hunting Act (BayJG) apply without agreement between the hunting ground owners, which can delay or impede the continuation of the search.

In order to prevent animal suffering as far as possible, officially recognized trailing teams commissioned by the district owner can cross district boundaries without the consent of the neighbouring district owner and release the game as part of the trailing. Search teams consist of a search leader and a search dog led by the leader.

A search team is recognized by the higher hunting authorities (governments) at the request of the search leader.

Responsibility

The government in whose jurisdiction your main place of residence is located is responsible for your application for recognition as a trailing team.

If your main place of residence is outside Bavaria, the government in whose jurisdiction the searches are primarily to be carried out is responsible; however, please note the information on the role of the main place of residence under "Requirements".

Erforderliche Unterlagen

    • Valid annual hunting license (complete copy)
    • Letter of recommendation from an organization (see formulation aids under "Further links")"

The document sent must clearly show that the dog in question is included. If this is not the case, you should obtain a letter from the insurance company stating that the dog is also insured.

    • Proof that the search dog(s) has/have passed the test(s)
      • for Hanoverian Welding Dogs and Bavarian Mountain Welding Dogs: Proof of passing the preliminary or main test of the "Verein Hirschmann e. V.", the "Klub für Bayerische Gebirgsschweißhunde 1912 e. V." or another breeding club affiliated to the International Welding Dog Association.
      • for Alpine Dachsbracken: Proof of having passed the working test with confirmed usability for tracking hoofed game from the "Verein Dachsbracke e.V." or a test recognized as equivalent by the "Verein Dachsbracke e.V.".
      • for other hunting dog breeds: Proof of having passed an Association Welding Test or Association Tracking Shoe Test in accordance with the Regulations for Association Welding Tests (VSwPO) and Association Tracking Shoe Tests (VfsPO) of the JGHV.

Voraussetzungen

The tracker must prove that

  • he is the holder of a valid annual hunting license,
  • is personally suitable and can carry out searches properly and professionally,
  • is prepared to carry out searches for all cloven-hoofed game species, and
  • the search dog belongs to a hunting dog breed and has the necessary aptitude.

A further prerequisite for recognition is that there is a need for the recognition of a search team.

The need for search teams is determined by the governments on a rotational basis for their area of responsibility according to districts/county-free cities. In order to ensure the broadest possible local coverage in Bavaria and the most timely search, the applicant's main place of residence plays a decisive role in meeting the demand.

If the applications exceed the demand, applicants who have voluntarily undertaken to use their dog exclusively for tracking will be given priority over other applicants. Furthermore, it is possible to balance the number of applications between rural districts/county-free cities and administrative districts if there is an unmet need there.

Kosten

Recognition is subject to a fee.

Depending on the effort involved, the fees are usually between EUR 12.50 and EUR 60.00 for initial recognition and between EUR 7.50 and EUR 30.00 for renewed recognition.

Verfahrensablauf

Interested search guides submit their applications to the government responsible for them within the application deadline.

The application form available under "Forms" must be submitted in text form together with supporting documents.

The government examines the documents and determines the need for search teams for each district/city in its administrative district. Within the scope of this requirement, recognition is granted for a period of up to three years and is always revocable. If the requirements are met, you will receive a notice of recognition.

Bearbeitungsdauer

The processing time depends on the quality and number of applications received by the relevant government.

Frist

For the first, three-year recognition period, the deadline for submitting applications is January 19, 2024. The government will make a selection decision based on the applications received by then.

Applications received after the deadline will continue to be processed, but can only be considered if there is an unmet need.
