If you would like to study at a university in Brandenburg, you must register and apply or enrol for a degree program online.
Please use the application portal of your chosen university if you
(a) would like to study a Bachelor's degree program with restricted admission in a first or higher semester and the coordination of the allocation of study places is not carried out by the Foundation for University Admissions (hochschulstart) or if you
(b) would like to study an admission-free degree program in a first or higher semester.
If the coordination of the allocation of study places for locally admission-restricted Bachelor's degree programs in a first semester is carried out via hochschulstart, you must first register with hochschulstart.de.
Each university decides for itself which degree programs are coordinated by hochschulstart and announces this on its website and application portals.
For degree programs with centrally restricted admissions, such as medicine, dentistry, veterinary medicine and pharmacy, you can only apply for the first semester via hochschulstart.de.
To apply for a higher semester, please apply directly to the university.

Study program
- You must have a valid higher education entrance qualification in accordance with Brandenburg regulations.
- If you can prove that you have outstanding artistic aptitude, you do not need to provide proof of a higher education entrance qualification for relevant degree programs.
- In order to be able to study in a higher semester at your chosen university, you must already be or have been enrolled in the same or an equivalent degree program at another university and be able to provide evidence of suitable/relevant achievements and skills.
- To apply for a consecutive/further Master's degree program, you must generally have already completed an undergraduate degree. In most cases, further admission requirements must be met, which are regulated by the university in the relevant admission regulations, which can be found on the university websites.
You must also meet the application deadlines and submit all documents and evidence required by the university in order for your application to be considered.
International applicants may have to pay a processing fee. Further information can be obtained from the respective university or via the service portal uni-assist e.V.
An online application for admission or enrollment is used for the application or enrollment:
- Registration
- Upload the application or enrolment documents (depending on the degree program) and submit the application or enrolment application
The steps involved are described in detail in the portal or on the website of the respective university.
You will be informed of the result of the application or enrolment application and the document check by the university or, if the procedures are coordinated via the Stiftung für Hochschulzulassung, also via hochschulstart.de will inform you.
The processing time varies within the legally prescribed deadlines depending on the degree program. Processing is usually completed by the start of the semester.
- The admission requirements of the desired degree programs must be taken into account.
- The required form and deadline must be adhered to.
- If the required conditions for admission to a degree program are not met or the required form and deadline are not adhered to, the application or enrollment application cannot be considered and must be excluded from the further procedure.
- False information will lead to exclusion from the procedure.
In some cases, a case of hardship can be claimed when applying for a place on a Bachelor's degree course with restricted admission. This can increase your chances of being admitted to the course. If appropriate evidence such as a medical certificate is available, a hardship application can be submitted online when applying.
Appeal against the admission or rejection decision. The deadline is one month after receipt of the rejection or after taking note of it.
