If you receive social assistance or basic security and have just had a baby, the social welfare office will bear the costs of counselling sessions.

In the first months and years of their child's life, many parents experience situations that unsettle, worry or overwhelm them.

The health aid offers mothers and fathers advice, for example, on questions such as:

• insatiable crying and frequent restlessness of the infant
• Difficulty falling asleep and staying asleep
• Problems with breastfeeding, feeding and eating
• Behavioral problems such as excessive anger and tantrums, anxiety or aggressiveness, reluctance to gamble
• Separation anxiety and difficulties
• tense family situation
• Relationship problems
• Overwhelm, insecurity and exhaustion
• Postnatal depression

• Application for health assistance
• Identity card or passport (or other documents that can identify the person beyond doubt)

Information on the documents required in individual cases will be provided by the competent social welfare institution.

Health assistance is provided to persons who:

• who do not have statutory or adequate private health insurance,
• the provision of services via the health insurance fund (§ 264 para. 4 SGB V) is out of the question
• and who cannot reasonably be expected to raise the funds for the necessary assistance from income and assets.
