You can apply for recognition as a test expert for safety-related building equipment at the Chamber of Engineers.

Inspection experts check and certify compliance with building regulations in their respective specialist areas on behalf of the client or other person responsible under building regulations. Within the scope of the audit tasks incumbent upon them, the test experts are independent and are not bound by instructions from the client.

Testing experts for safety-related building equipment test and certify the compliance of the safety-related building equipment with the public law requirements within the meaning of §§ 1 and 2 of the Brandenburg Safety-related Building Equipment Testing Ordinance. If deficiencies found are not remedied within the period specified by the inspection experts, they must inform the building supervisory authority.

The designation of test expert or test expert may only be used by persons who, in accordance with Brandenburg Testing Expert Ordinance . The recognition authority for test experts in the state of Brandenburg is the Brandenburg Chamber of Engineers (BBIK).

Recognition as a test expert or test expert for safety-related building equipment only takes place if you meet and can prove the general requirements as well as the special requirements for this specialist area (including proof of professional experience and special knowledge). The examination procedure for recognition includes a written and an oral examination.

Recognition can be applied for in the following fields:

• Ventilation
• CO warning systems,
• smoke exhaust systems,
• fire extinguishing systems,
• fire detection and alarm systems,
• Safety power supplies.

The application for recognition as a test expert or test expert for earthworks and foundation engineering must be submitted:

• a curriculum vitae with complete information on the professional career up to the time of application
• a copy of the diplomas and one copy of the employment certificates,
• proof of the application for a certificate of good conduct for submission to an authority (document type O or P) or an equivalent document of a Member State of the European Union, whereby proof or document should not be older than three months,
• information on the place of business and any other branches,
• Information on any participation in a company whose purpose is the planning or implementation of construction projects and proof of compliance with the special requirements for recognition pursuant to Section 5 (4) BbgPrüfSV.

The professional requirements are fulfilled by a person who:

• has a university degree suitable for the field of safety-related building equipment and is allowed to use the professional title "engineer",
• as an engineer, he or she has worked for at least five years in the field or discipline in which the testing activity is to be carried out and has participated in examinations for at least two years,
• has professional experience that dates back no more than two years,
• demonstrates the necessary knowledge of the legal provisions, technical building regulations and the relevant technical regulations that are relevant to the testing activity, and
• proves that the special requirements for the respective subject area or discipline are met.

Examination of the formal requirements for recognition as an examiner or examiner: EUR 500.

Fees are based on subheading 7.4 of the Brandenburg Building Fee Regulations

• The Brandenburg Chamber of Engineers decides on the application for recognition as a test expert or test expert in the state of Brandenburg as the recognition authority. On the basis of the documents submitted, the recognition authority examines the applicant's personal and professional requirements in accordance with § 5 BbgPrüfSV.
• After receipt and preliminary examination of the application documents, the recognition authority initiates the appropriate measures for the preparation of an expert opinion to be provided for the applicant.
• Request for the BBIK to carry out an expert opinion by the respective competent recognition authority
• Personal exam preparation for the candidate - BBIK offers specialist seminars for exam preparation
• Written exam oral/practical exam at a given technical facility

• Preparation of an expert opinion by the examination board of the BBIK and transmission to the recognition authority of the respective federal state Decision on the recognitions by the recognition authority of the respective federal state

Registration is possible at any time. The exams take place about 1 time a year.

The title of test expert or test expert may only be used with the indication of the subject area and discipline for which the test expert or experts are recognised under this Ordinance.
