Commercial exhibition of persons requires official authorization.

Displays of persons are events at which the physical appearance of the persons on show is the main focus. The performances offered by them (e.g. singing or theater performances) are in the background. This term mainly covers events that

• display the sexual charms of the persons concerned or
  
• are intended to satisfy the sensationalism of the audience.

Examples: Striptease or table dance

A permit is required for the commercial exhibition of persons. This can be obtained by natural and legal persons. The permit is required by

• the organizer of the performance and
• persons who make their business premises available for the performance.

The permit for the exhibition does not replace any other permits.

Note: Performances of a predominantly artistic, acrobatic, sporting or similar nature are exempt from the permit requirement.

The permit expires if the holder has not started the business within one year of its issue or has not exercised it for a period of one year.

The deadlines can be extended for good cause.

The responsibility lies with the local regulatory authorities of the municipalities, Section 1 (1) of the Ordinance on Responsibilities in Trade Law (Trade Law Responsibility Ordinance - GewRZV).

This procedure can also be handled by a "single point of contact". The "Single Point of Contact" is a special service offered by the municipalities and the state for service providers.
