Ausübung der Heilkunde Erlaubnis

A non-medical practitioner is a person who practices medicine professionally without being appointed as a doctor. The practice of medicine is any professional or commercial activity aimed at detecting, curing or alleviating diseases, suffering or bodily injury in people, even if it is carried out in the service of others.

If you want to settle down as a non-medical practitioner for the practice of medicine, you need a permit. The permit entitles you to use the professional title "alternative practitioner" or "alternative practitioner".  

• concise curriculum vitae
• the birth certificate or an excerpt from the family book
• Proof of identity
• an official certificate of good conduct, which must not be older than one month
• a statement as to whether the applicant is the subject of a criminal investigation or an investigation by the public prosecutor's office
• a declaration as to whether and, if so, to which authority a permit under the Heilpraktikergesetz (HeilPrG) has already been applied for
• a medical certificate, which must not be older than one month, stating that there are no indications that the applicant lacks the aptitude required for the exercise of the profession as a non-medical practitioner due to a physical ailment or weakness of mental or physical strength or because of an addiction
• Proof that the applicant has completed at least secondary school

• Knowledge check by the expert committee at the State Office for Social Affairs, Youth and Family

Fees and expenses are incurred in accordance with Annex 1 to § 1 paragraph 1 of the General Fee Schedule of the State of Lower Saxony (AllGO) in accordance with No. 42.1.

Part of the procedure is an official medical knowledge check. The knowledge test takes place on fixed examination dates. Therefore, please contact the competent authority in good time to find out about the respective application deadline for registration.

The responsibility lies with the district and the district-free city in whose district the profession is to be exercised.
