Veranstaltungen im öffentlichen Verkehrsraum: Erlaubnis

For events where public roads are used more than usual due to the number of participants or their behavior, a permit is required. Bicycle races, cycle tours, popular runs, inline skating races, triathlon competitions, classic car or orientation rides or similar events are subject to authorisation.

Information is required on:

• the nature and occasion of the event
• Venue and date
• the duration of the event
• the number of participants / vehicles
• the route
• the starting method

A route plan and proof of concluded organizer liability insurance must be attached.

The permit is subject to a fee.

The application must be submitted approximately two months before the intended date.

A timely application is essential, as the bodies affected by the event (lower road traffic authorities, the police and other bodies) must be involved. The concerns, requirements or indications expressed in the course of this consultation procedure (for example on local construction sites) will be taken into account by the competent authority when granting the permit in order to ensure that the event runs smoothly.

The responsibility lies with the district and the city. If the event goes beyond the district of the competent authority, the Lower Saxony State Authority for Road Construction and Transport is responsible for permitting the event.
