If your passenger licence expires, you can have it extended.

• valid identity card
• the card driving licence
• a certificate of good conduct of document type "0" (official certificate of good conduct, to be applied for at the municipality of residence. This is sent by the Federal Office of Justice directly to the driving licence authority.). A private certificate of good conduct is not sufficient.
• a certificate of medical examination of applicants for the issue or renewal of a category D, D1, DE D1E driving licence or a driving licence for the carriage of passengers for taxis, rental cars, ambulances or passenger cars on regular services or in the case of commercial excursions or holiday destination trips in accordance with Paragraph 11(9) and Paragraph 48(4) and (5) of the Ordinance on the Admission of Persons to Road Transport (FeV). General practitioners have the appropriate form or must order it.
• a certificate or certificate of ophthalmological examination of applicants for the issue or renewal of a category D, D1, DE D1E driving licence or a driving licence for passenger transport for taxis, rental cars, ambulances or passenger cars on regular services or in the case of commercial excursions or holiday destination trips in accordance with Paragraph 12(6) and Paragraph 48(4) and (5) of the FeV. Ophthalmologists have the appropriate form or must order it.
   

If a driver's licence for passenger transport is extended beyond the age of 60 , the applicant must meet additional requirements with regard to resilience, orientation, concentration, attention and responsiveness. Proof of compliance with these requirements must be provided by the submission of an occupational or occupational health report or an expert opinion from an officially recognised assessment centre for fitness to drive.

A personal appearance is required, as signatures must be provided.

The competent authority queries the score at the Federal Motor Transport Authority (KBA). Thereafter, the applicant is requested in writing to present the driving licence for the carriage of passengers for registration of the extension.

The processing time can be about 3 weeks, but a maximum of 6 weeks.

The responsibility lies with the district and the independent city in which you have your residence.
