Youth Employment Protection Act (JArbschG)

Anyone who is not yet 18 years old and wants to start an employment relationship must undergo a medical examination (youth employment protection examination). Without this investigation, employers are not allowed to employ young people.

This requires:

• an examination authorization certificate (serves as a billing document and must be submitted to the examining physician) and
• a questionnaire (serves to present the current physical and psychological situation and must be submitted in full to the examining physician).

Identity card or passport or - if available - the children's ID card

There are no fees. The costs of the medical examination are borne by the state, provided that your main residence is in Lower Saxony.

For young people who are employed during the school holidays for a maximum of four weeks per calendar year, no youth employment protection examination is required.

You can obtain the examination authorization certificate at the responsible registration office of your main residence. The choice of doctor is free.
