Krankentransport Durchführung

Qualified patient transport is the transport of other sick, injured or needy persons who, according to medical assessment, require professional medical care or specially equipped rescue equipment during transport or for whom this is to be expected due to their condition.

This qualified ambulance transport is generally ensured by the ground-based rescue service of the municipal authorities and partly supplemented by companies and aid organisations that have received a permit for such ambulance transports, and in some cases by the state's air ambulance.

The fees agreed by the state with the payers (health insurance companies) apply.

There are no deadlines to be observed.

The needs-based supply of the population with services of qualified ambulance transport is to be ensured by the competent authority.

The responsibility lies:

• at the district, the district-free city and rescue service associations (federal rescue service)

• at the State Police Headquarters of Lower Saxony (Luftrettung).
