In Lower Saxony, sales outlets are allowed to open from 00:00 on Monday to 24:00 on Saturday. be open.

On Sundays and public holidays, there is a general ban on opening and selling. The Lower Saxony Act on Shop Opening and Sales Hours (NLöffVZG) conclusively regulates exceptions to this prohibition for:

• pharmacies, petrol stations, points of sale at railway stations for passenger transport, at airports and ferry ports,
• Points of sale for the consumption of goods for immediate consumption in order to meet local needs

The regulations in force in Lower Saxony do not apply

• wholesale (sales to resellers and professional buyers),
• on the sale of accessories, if it is provided at the place of the main service and the main service is not subject to the provisions of the law,
• the sale of goods at folk festivals as well as at fixed fairs, markets and exhibitions,
• on restaurants, video stores and service providers.
