Food, Consumer Goods and Feed Code

With a value of around 10 billion euros, animal feed is the most important agricultural inputs in Germany. The demand for animal feed is about 66 million tons per year, which corresponds to about 8 times .dem grain consumption for human consumption. Around 40% of all compound feed produced in Germany is produced in Lower Saxony.

If the production and use of feed is not targeted, careful and quality-oriented, considerable economic losses occur, possibly consumer damage and environmental pollution. Official monitoring accompanying products at all stages of production, processing and distribution of feed (short: feed control) is intended to prevent this and at the same time strengthen precautionary consumer protection.

In Lower Saxony, the State Office for Consumer Protection and Food Safety is responsible for feed control.
