Public libraries are an essential part of the freely accessible information, education and cultural offerings in our society. As a rule, they are municipal institutions. No other educational institution reaches such a high proportion of the population of all ages, social and educational classes.

Preconditions:
A library card is required for borrowing to the reading rooms and homes, as well as for the use of databases and electronic journals.

No documents are required.

The cost of the library card varies from library to library. Special services (copies, repro orders, document delivery, use of the image archive, access to the Internet) are also subject to a fee.

The loan periods are determined by the competent authority.

The responsibility lies with the respective library.
