Vocational secondary schools are two-year full-time school courses (grade 12 and grade 13) in which the subject-specific higher education entrance qualification or the general higher education entrance qualification can be acquired.

The vocational secondary school leads to a subject-related higher education entrance qualification or general higher education entrance qualification and entitles the holder to study at a university of applied sciences or university in all states of the Federal Republic of Germany.

The subject-specific university entrance qualification is acquired by those who have successfully attended the vocational secondary school.

The general university entrance qualification is acquired by those who have successfully attended vocational secondary school and can prove their knowledge of a second foreign language.

In addition to job-oriented specialist knowledge, the vocational secondary school also imparts general educational knowledge.

There will be classes of the following specialties:

• Business and Administration,
• Technology
• health and welfare,
• Nutrition and home economics as well as
• Agriculture, biotechnology and environmental technology

guided.

• Completed application
• Certified copies of certificates (highest educational qualification acquired)
• Examination certificate of successfully completed relevant vocational training (skilled worker's certificate or journeyman's certificate)
• Certificate of completion from vocational school or proof of relevant several years of professional experience
• Curriculum vitae in tabular form with information about the previous educational path with a declaration as to whether and, if so, at which school an admission procedure for a previous school year was unsuccessfully participated

In Lower Saxony, the vocational secondary school has been constructed as a form of postgraduate school, i.e. instead of class 12 of the vocational secondary school, class 12 of the technical secondary school is run in the corresponding subject area.

The admission requirements for Grade 12 are:

1. Secondary school leaving certificate I - secondary school leaving certificate or an equivalent qualification and
2. at least two years of successfully completed relevant vocational training or at least five years of relevant full-time employment, and
3. the vocational school diploma or another equivalent level of education.

Admission directly to grade 13 of the vocational secondary school is possible if you can prove that you have a technical college entrance qualification or an equivalent qualification in addition to the admission requirements for grade 12. A level of education equivalent to the vocational school leaving certificate can also be proven by a corresponding knowledge test.

You submit the completed application with the necessary documents to the vocational high school you have selected.

Your application will be checked with regard to the completeness of the submitted documents, the admission requirements and the capacity in the course of education. You will then receive a message from the school about the status of your registration.

The registration deadline is March 1 of each year.

• In Lower Saxony, the vocational secondary school has been constructed as a form of postgraduate school, i.e. instead of class 12 of the vocational secondary school, class 12 of the technical secondary school is run in the corresponding subject area.
• The admission requirements for Grade 12 are:
• Secondary school leaving certificate or an equivalent qualification and

2. at least two years of successfully completed relevant vocational training or at least five years of relevant full-time professional activity, and

3. the vocational school leaving certificate or another equivalent level of education.

• Admission directly to grade 13 of the vocational secondary school is possible if you can prove that you have a technical college entrance qualification or an equivalent qualification in addition to the admission requirements for grade 12. A level of education equivalent to the vocational school leaving certificate can also be proven by a corresponding knowledge test.
• In Lower Saxony, the vocational secondary school is run for one year and has the advanced technical college entrance qualification as an admission requirement.
• The vocational high school concludes with a written examination.
• The subject-specific university entrance qualification can be acquired.
• If you are taking or having knowledge of a second foreign language at the same time, you can also acquire the general university entrance qualification.
• The vocational school offering the vocational secondary school is responsible for registration.
