If the period of validity of your permit for guided tours on tidal flats in the Lower Saxony Wadden Sea ends and you would like to conduct guided tours on the tidal flats in the future, you will need to renew your permit.

A mudflat guide permit is usually issued for a period of six years and extended for the same duration. The time limit is intended to ensure that it can be regularly checked whether you still have the necessary knowledge and skills to be able to conduct guided tours of the mudflats safely and in accordance with nature conservation regulations. This applies in particular to comprehensive local knowledge of the relevant routes and mudflat areas.

• • • Confirmation of at least four tidal flat tours per area/route (in the case of routes between the mainland and an island, at least two tidal flat tours in each direction) within the last two years [proof e.g. by means of an extract from the logbook, Section 5 (4) sentence 3 NWattFVO] or proof of participation in at least six tidal flat tours per area/route (in the case of routes between the mainland and an island, participation in at least three tidal flat tours in each direction) within the last two years. Alternatively, proof of current local knowledge can be provided in an examination interview.

• • • current certificate of good conduct (§ 30 BZRG)
    • current medical certificate of fitness to carry out wading tours

Several proofs in the form of documents to be submitted are required.

You inform the competent authority of your extension request, stating the tidal flats or tidal flat stretches and submitting all the necessary evidence and documents.

It is generally not possible to extend your permit if it has already been valid for a longer period of time (more than six months). Therefore, please apply for an extension in good time! Otherwise, a permit can only be reissued and a new review interview will be required. The competent authority will not send a reminder when the expiry date is approaching.

You may appeal against the extension or refusal of an extension of the permit within one month of notification of the decision. The objection must be submitted in writing or orally for recording at the "Niedersächsisches Wattenmeer" National Park Administration, Virchowstraße 1, 26382 Wilhelmshaven.
