Have you had to close your business or practice due to a ban on activity or quarantine? Here you will find information on how to reimburse ongoing uncovered operating costs.

In the event of a ban on activity or quarantine, as a self-employed person or self-employed person, you are entitled not only to compensation for loss of earnings but also to reimbursement of ongoing uncovered business expenses, such as rents or loans. This only applies to operating costs that cannot be avoided.

In addition, you must keep operating costs as low as possible. The reimbursement will be reasonable.

This is a so-called "optional service". This means that the authority has a margin of manoeuvre to assess whether a claim exists and how high it is.

In the event of quarantine or a ban on activity, you are entitled to compensation for ongoing uncovered business expenses if

• you are self-employed,
• Your business or practice is suspended during the ban on activity or quarantine, and
• you are entitled to compensation for your loss of earnings.

The uncovered operating expenses can be reimbursed upon request.

• Ask the office responsible for you for a corresponding application form.
• The applications will be processed after receipt of the application and any further necessary documents will be requested.
• At the end, you will receive a notification and, if necessary, the payout to your specified account.

Please understand that the processing of applications varies depending on the volume and authority. Unfortunately, it may well happen that the processing of your application can take up to 12 months or longer.

Applications will be processed in the order in which they are received.

If you are not satisfied with the decision of the authority, you can first try to communicate your reasons and concerns. The authority will then review your request.

If the authority sticks to your decision, you have the option of filing a complaint with the competent administrative court in writing or for the record within one month of notification of the decision. In some federal states, the objection must be filed.
