If you would like to obtain the general university entrance qualification/Abitur with a vocational focus, you can apply for admission to a vocational grammar school.

You can apply for admission to a vocational high school. The vocational high school comprises grades 11 to 13 and is located at a vocational school (BBS). At the vocational grammar schools, the general higher education entrance qualification with a vocational focus on economics, technology and health and social affairs can be obtained. These disciplines and specializations are broken down as follows:

• Specializing in Economics,
• Technology with a focus on civil engineering, electrical engineering, mechatronics, information technology and design and media technology
• Health and social affairs with a focus on agriculture, ecotrophology, health care and social pedagogy.

The upper secondary school at the vocational grammar school is divided into a one-year introductory phase (grade 11) and a two-year qualification phase (grades 12 and 13).

You must have an Extended Secondary School Certificate I or equivalent.

Admission to the qualification phase without attending the introductory phase is only possible if they have obtained the entrance qualification for a university of applied sciences at a vocational school in the same field of study and have continuously learned a second foreign language in secondary education l from the 6th grade onwards

You submit your application to the respective school with a vocational high school. The application periods are usually in February. The school will check your documents for completeness. You will then receive a written notification.

Deadlines and registration dates are set by the respective schools for the individual types of school.

Admission will be communicated before the start of the school year.
