Parties, voter groups and other candidates may obtain the following information on persons entitled to vote from the population register in the 6 months prior to an election in connection with parliamentary and municipal elections:
- first and last names,
- Doctorate
- current address.
If the requested person has died, this will be communicated.
- Requests for information in connection with elections to the German Bundestag or the European Parliament for groups of eligible voters, insofar as their composition is determined by age and the voters have not objected to this provision of information
- Notification of the right to object
- Eligible voters must be informed of their right to object when registering and at the latest eight months before elections by means of a public announcement.
- exclusive use of the data for the purpose for which they were transmitted
The information is only possible in the 6 months before an election.
These data may only be used for advertising in an election or vote and must be deleted or destroyed no later than one month after the election or vote.
The competent authority cannot provide information if there is a block on information or if a blocking notice is entered in the population register. Furthermore, every data subject has the possibility to object to the transfer of his or her data.
Political parties, groups of voters and other candidates may obtain certain information on persons entitled to vote from the population register in the 6 months preceding an election in connection with parliamentary and municipal elections.
The responsibility lies with the municipality, the Joint Community and the city in whose territory the data of the voters are to be collected.
