From 1 January 2024, it will no longer be possible to apply for a children's passport. Children under the age of 12 also need a regular passport if they plan to travel outside the European Union. The previously available children's passport will no longer be available from 1 January 2024. Children's passports issued before this date remain valid until the expiry date.
If the children's passport can no longer be found or has been lost, the loss must be reported immediately (notification of loss).
There is no obligation to apply for a new children's passport. If a children's passport is still required, a new children's passport must be applied for. It is not possible to issue a replacement document.
