In the interest of the administration of justice or to avoid hardship, the competent authority may release a patent attorney from the law firm obligation pursuant to § 26 paragraph 3 of the German Patent Attorney Act (PAO).

No documents are required.

• An exemption is granted in accordance with § 27 paragraph 2 of the German Patent Attorney Act (PAO) if a law firm
  • is set up exclusively in other countries, and
  • overriding interests do not conflict with the administration of justice.

Fees are payable in accordance with the fee regulations of the competent authority.

There are no deadlines to be observed.

In the interest of the administration of justice or to avoid hardship, a patent attorney may be exempted from the law firm obligation.

The competent authority lies with the Chamber of Patent Attorneys.

This procedure can also be carried out through a "Point of Single Contact". The "Point of Single Contact" is a special service offered by municipalities and the state for service providers.
