Test engineers check and certify compliance with building code requirements in their respective specialist areas on behalf of the building supervisory authority. Within the scope of the testing tasks incumbent upon them, test engineers are independent and not bound by instructions.

Recognition as a test engineer for stability is only granted if the general requirements as well as the special requirements for the field of stability (including proof of professional experience and special knowledge) are met and have been proven. The examination procedure for recognition includes an oral examination.

• Proof of application for a certificate of good conduct for submission to an authority (document type O or P)
• Information on branches and shareholdings in companies
• Proof of compliance with the special recognition requirements (including proof of professional experience and special knowledge)

The applicant must be at least 35 years of age and must not have exceeded the age of 60 at the time of application.

The responsibility lies with the Lower Saxony Ministry of Social Affairs, Health and Equality.
