Out of force - renewing a severely disabled person's ID card
Since January 1, 2013, the severely disabled person's pass has been issued in the form of an identification card (credit card format). It is therefore no longer possible to renew it for technical reasons. If your severely disabled person's ID card expires, you can apply for a new severely disabled person's ID card.
If you still have an old severely disabled person's pass in DIN A6 paper format, it will remain valid until it expires. However, this will no longer be extended, but will be replaced by a new severely disabled person's pass in credit card format when it expires.
- Application form
- Documents to prove the disability (assessment notice according to the law on severely disabled persons)
- Passport photo, if applicable
- Exception: In the case of severely disabled people who cannot leave the house or can only do so with the help of an ambulance, the ID card will be issued without a photograph on application. The issuing authority will then note "valid without photo" on the ID card.
- for non-EU citizens: valid residence permit
The competent authority may request further documents from you if necessary.
Disability cards are no longer renewed. Please apply for a new severely disabled person's pass.
