Do you suffer from tuberculosis? Then you have the opportunity to take part in a tuberculosis consultation.
Tuberculosis is a contagious disease. It is an infectious disease that often begins with uncharacteristic symptoms (cough, tiredness, slight fever, etc.) and mainly affects the lungs, but can also affect other organs.
In order to prevent the disease from spreading in the body and to prevent other people from becoming infected, it is important to recognize it early and start treatment with medication. Tuberculosis is classified as a notifiable disease in Germany.
Treatment is lengthy and must be carried out consistently, as otherwise the disease may break out again, antibiotics may become ineffective (so-called development of resistance) and infection may lead to further cases of the disease.
Tuberculosis counseling is free of charge for you as an affected person. The costs are usually covered by the health insurance companies.
The tasks of tuberculosis counseling are
- Identification and examination of contact persons with tuberculosis patients,
- Accompanying and monitoring outpatient anti-tuberculosis therapy,
- Under certain circumstances, carrying out and ensuring treatment,
- further follow-up after the end of therapy.
In principle, every asylum seeker living in shared accommodation in Germany is tested for tuberculosis pathogens.
You can find more information on this topic on the website of the State Examination Office.
Anyone suffering from tuberculosis can take part in a tuberculosis consultation. The costs for this are reimbursed.
If you have any questions about tuberculosis advice, please contact your pulmonologist or your local health authority.
