The state allowance for the blind is a voluntary benefit of the state of Rhineland-Palatinate, which is granted irrespective of income and assets. Under certain conditions, it is paid to blind people and those who are considered to be equivalent to blind people due to severe visual impairment. It is used to compensate for additional expenses caused by disability.
In the case of higher additional expenses due to blindness, you can apply for income- and asset-dependent assistance for the blind in addition to the state allowance for the blind (see also assistance for the blind).
The provisions of the BVG apply to war blind people.
The application must be submitted to the district or city administration responsible for the place of residence.
Applications and forms can be obtained in consultation with the responsible district or city administration.
