In order for an abortion to be carried out with impunity, pregnancy conflict counselling is required. In the consultation, the possibility of abortion, fears and worries of pregnant women, possible offers of help and medical education are discussed. The counselling serves to protect unborn life. After completion of the counselling of the pregnant woman, the counselling centre must issue a certificate with name and date stating that a counselling has taken place.

The prerequisite is that the pregnant woman is not yet in the 12th week of pregnancy and she is considering an abortion for conscious reasons.

The counselling is free of charge for the pregnant woman.

If a pregnancy is detected and the pregnant woman wants to terminate it, she must make an appointment with a pregnancy conflict counseling center. A pregnant woman seeking advice must be advised immediately in a state-approved counselling centre. After the consultation, the pregnant woman receives a counseling certificate, which is necessary for the abortion.

An abortion is only possible up to the 12th week of pregnancy.
