If, as a citizen, you surrender weapons and/or ammunition that require a permit, you must notify the competent authority within two weeks.
If you leave your weapon and/or ammunition to another person, you must report this to the competent firearms authority within two weeks. The competent firearms authority will then delete the entry for the weapon and/or ammunition from your firearms possession card (WBK) and, if applicable, from your European firearms pass.
You don't have to display it if you
- leave substantial parts of the weapon for embellishment or similar work to be carried out and then receive them back after completion of the work,
- provide weapons and/or ammunition as part of a training and employment relationship,
- Temporarily leave weapons and/or ammunition for shooting at a shooting range.
- Identity card or passport (copy)
- Wffenbesitzkarte (WBK)
- European firearms pass, if applicable
You must report the surrender of weapons and/or ammunition requiring a permit to the competent firearms authority. Submit the application together with the required documents.
To be able to fill out the ad faster, you can use the NWR identification numbers (NWR ID):
- Your personal NWR ID (P or F NWR ID) for your personal information
- the Permit-NWR-ID for the Weapons Permit (E-NWR-ID)
- the weapon or weapon part NWR ID (W or T-NWR ID).
You can obtain the NWR IDs upon application to the responsible weapons authority.
- Notification by the citizen for the transfer of weapons or ammunition to persons in Germany Receipt
- The surrender of weapons and ammunition requiring a licence must be reported within two weeks
- No display required if
- essential weapon parts are given for embellishment or similar work and then handed back to the owner,
- weapons and/or ammunition are provided as part of an apprenticeship/employment relationship,
- Weapons and/or ammunition are provided for shooting at shooting ranges.
