Would you like to have your dog exempted from the muzzle requirement? Then you will need a corresponding certificate.
The muzzle requirement applies to all dogs classified as dangerous, so-called "listed dogs".
In Rhineland-Palatinate, you can have your dog exempted from the muzzle requirement under certain conditions.
This can also take the form of a halter (e.g. "Halti").
- A written application is required
- If applicable, certificate of reliability required for keeping a fighting dog
- Expert certificate from a veterinarian, if applicable
- Danger to public safety from the dog can be ruled out
- You must have the necessary reliability as a dog handler
- Your dog must not bite
- You have a recommendation from a veterinarian
Other possible requirements:
- If your dog is physically handicapped
- Your dog is a puppy or a young dog up to 12 months old
- You must provide a companion dog test or a certificate of competence
- If your dog has a physical disability: You must obtain an expert certificate from an official veterinarian
- You submit a written application to the competent authority, enclosing the necessary evidence
- If approved: you will receive a written notification
- Dog ownership exemption
- Exemption of listed dogs/fighting dogs from the muzzle requirement
