If you have obtained an International Baccalaureate Diploma/Diplôme du Baccalauréat International , in order to apply for a place at a German university, you must first have this degree recognised as a university entrance qualification.

If you have obtained an IB diploma at an international school and want to study in Germany, you can apply for recognition of your IB diploma as a university entrance qualification. After successfully checking the prerequisites, you will be issued with a certificate with which you can then apply for a course of study.

With full recognition of your IB diploma as a direct university entrance qualification, you can start studying all subjects at all universities and colleges in Germany. For this purpose, the number of points you have achieved in the IB program will also be converted into the German grading system.

If your IB diploma does not meet all the requirements for direct university admission, you must also pass the assessment test at a German Studienkolleg for recognition as a university entrance qualification.

The decision as to whether a school leaving certificate is recognised is made by the university at which you wish to study.
