The semester fee includes contributions for the semester ticket, the student union and the student body. Re-registration takes place by paying the respective semester fee.
The semester fee is a statutory contribution that finances, for example, the needs of the student body and the Studierendenwerk, such as the canteen, halls of residence or childcare services.
Re-registration for the next semester is effected by the timely receipt of the semester fee by the Landeshochschulkasse Mainz.
The deadlines for re-registration are published on the websites of the respective universities. If the semester fee is incomplete or received too late by the state university cashier, some Rhineland-Palatinate universities offer the option of transferring a late fee within a grace period.
When charging the semester fee, other fees that may be due (e.g. second degree fees) may also be requested.
