Persons with statutory health insurance are entitled to dental and orthodontic treatment.

The dental treatment consists of

• diagnostic measures,
• conservation, surgical and orthodontic treatment,
• systematic treatment of periodontopathies (diseases of the periodontal apparatus)
• other treatment measures
• the prescription of medicinal products.

For dentures, the health insurance company covers 60 percent of the costs that are determined for the so-called standard care according to a certain finding.

• For dentures: treatment and cost plan of the treating dentist.

• Benefits that exceed sufficient, appropriate and economic care are to be paid by the insured.
• For recipients of low incomes, a hardship regulation applies to dentures. A reimbursement of costs of up to 100 percent is possible.

    • Residents of the home whose accommodation provides social assistance or the care of war victims.

The health insurance company must decide on applications for dentures within a period of 3 weeks (up to 6 weeks in the case of expert participation) from receipt of the application.
