Since January 1, 2020, the following applies in Rhineland-Palatinate: Fee-free from two! This means that all children between the ages of two and starting school are exempt from daycare/crèche fees.

Providers of daycare facilities that are part of the requirements plan charge parental contributions to cover a proportion of the personnel costs for the support of school children and children who have not yet reached the age of two.

A separate amount is charged for lunch and meals for all children.

The parental contributions are set by the local youth welfare authority, i.e. the responsible youth welfare office.

Parental contributions are set by the responsible youth welfare office. The voluntary welfare associations must be consulted before the fees are set.

• The parental contributions must be graduated. Criteria for the scale can be, for example:the income of the parents,
• the number of children entitled to child benefit in the family
• the daily care time of the child
