The authority may also order the appointment of a water protection officer in addition to those already obliged to appoint a water protection officer.

The competent authority may order that:

1. the discharge of waste water into waters for which there is no obligation to appoint water protection officers anyway;
2. the discharges of waste water in wastewater treatment plants,
3. the operators of plants for the handling of water-hazardous substances in accordance with Section 62 paragraph 1 WHG,
4. the operators of pipeline installations in accordance with point 19.3 of Appendix 1 of the Environmental Impact Assessment Act

to appoint one or more water protection officers.

The order shall be issued by the authority.

The order issued by the authority is not bound by time limits.
