You can obtain a residence permit for the recognition of foreign professional qualifications in order to compensate for the deficits of your professional qualification determined by the recognition authority, even in the context of qualified employment in the desired profession.

They can obtain a residence permit for the recognition of a qualification measure if they intend to work in a non-regulated profession in order to compensate for the identified deficits in the context of qualified employment. Non-regulated professions are professions without certain state requirements for their exercise. This means that there is no professional license that would be necessary to work in the profession.

The Federal Employment Agency must agree to the exercise of employment. As part of the approval, it examines, among other things, whether the employment is not carried out under less favourable working conditions than the employment of comparable domestic employees.

The residence permit for the recognition of professional qualifications during employment is a temporary residence permit. It shall be granted for a two-year time.

• Proof of at least sufficient knowledge of German at level A 2 by presenting a language certificate

• You have a recognised and valid passport or passport replacement and, if necessary for entry, a valid visa.
• There is no interest in expulsion against you.
• Your stay does not endanger or affect the interests of the Federal Republic of Germany.
• The body responsible for the recognition of your professional qualification in Germany has determined with a decision that you lack skills, knowledge and skills predominantly in company practice.
• You have at least german language skills at level A2
• A concrete job offer is available.
• Your future employer has promised in an employment contract that he will enable you to gain professional recognition during your stay in Germany.
• The Federal Employment Agency has agreed to the exercise of employment (the consent is usually obtained by the Immigration Office).
• You can secure your livelihood and health insurance coverage without using public services.

Issuance of residence permit: EUR 100,00

Under certain conditions, a reduction in fees or exemption from fees may be considered.

The residence permit must be applied for at the immigration office responsible for your place of residence. The procedure is as follows:

• Depending on the immigration office and concerns, an application via the Internet may be possible. Find out whether your immigration office offers the electronic application for the residence permit.
• If the application is only possible in person, make an appointment with the immigration office. During the appointment, your application will be accepted and your proofs checked (bring them with you to the appointment). For the production of an electronic residence title (eAT Card), your fingerprints will be taken.
• In the event of an electronic application, the Immigration Office will contact you after receipt of your online application in order to make an appointment at the Immigration Office if necessary. • If your application is complied with, the Immigration Office will arrange for the eAT Card to be produced.
