The "personal budget" is support for people with disabilities in the form of cash payments or, in exceptional cases, in the form of vouchers.

With this personal budget, you can "purchase" expenses for your assistance needs yourself. This means that you no longer have to submit an application for every item or service. The personal budget is tailored to your needs and can be used be used for benefits from health insurance, social care insurance, accident insurance and social assistance.

You have a legal entitlement to the personal budget if you submit an application and meet the requirements.

In addition to the application, you must submit a number of supporting documents. However, these depend on your individual circumstances. When you submit an application, the responsible office will tell you which documents you still need to submit.

You have a disability or are at risk of a disability (the severity of the disability is irrelevant).

• You must first submit an application. The application is always voluntary. A single rehab application is sufficient to initiate a comprehensive review and decision-making process for the personal budget, even if another service provider is responsible.
• The services that can be provided in the form of a personal budget are then discussed with the applicant. If necessary, representatives of the service providers involved will be involved. The disabled person can bring along a person they trust.
• The person with disabilities then receives a decision containing the details of the personal budget. If they do not agree with the decision on the personal budget, they have the option of lodging an appeal with the service provider who issued the decision.
• At intervals of at least two years, the need for assistance must be reviewed in a further needs assessment procedure and adjusted if necessary.

• pension insurance provider,
• accident insurance provider,
• the pension fund for farmers,
• War victims' pension/welfare institutions,
• youth welfare organizations,
• social welfare organizations,
• integration office and
• Federal Employment Agency.

You can submit an informal application to a benefit provider. However, many providers also offer forms that you can use.
