Do you want to clear your forest? Then you need a permit for this.

Would you like to clear existing forest on your property and convert it to another type of land use, e.g. a field or meadow?

According to the provisions of the State Forest Act, you may only clear forest and convert it to another type of land use with the permission of the forestry office.

Permission can be granted for a limited period and subject to conditions.

Permission is granted if

• if there is no overriding public interest in the preservation of the forest (conversion)

The fee range is EUR 100.00 to EUR 200.00, plus any fees and expenses for the involvement of other authorities, if requested by them.

The forestry office will decide on your application after weighing up the rights, obligations and economic interests of the forest owners and the interests of the general public against each other and among themselves and after consulting the relevant authorities. This procedure ensures that all arguments in favor of or against a conversion are given due consideration and that the forestry office can steer the forest development on this basis.

If the conversion has been approved, you must carry out this project within a reasonable period of time. After this period, the approval expires.
