Here you will find information on registration in the list of architects of the state of Rhineland-Palatinate and on applying for membership of the Rhineland-Palatinate Chamber of Architects.
Registration with the Rhineland-Palatinate Chamber of Architects is the basis for using the protected professional titles 'architect', 'interior architect', 'landscape architect' and 'urban planner'. Membership is associated with the building submission authorization for architects and the limited building submission authorization for interior designers in accordance with Section 64 (2) LBauO.
- Certificates and diplomas from higher education (Bachelor's and Master's degrees, diploma).
- Specialization in architecture: Detailed proof of the practical training in accordance with § 5 para. 1 sentence 2 of the Architects Act in conjunction with § 2. § 2 Statutes of the Rhineland-Palatinate Chamber of Architects for supervised professional practice in the field of architecture dated February 21, 2017.
Specialization in interior design, landscape architecture, urban planning: Proof of practical activity carried out after completion of professional training. - Proof of participation in the further training measures required for registration in accordance with Section 6 of the State Ordinance on the Implementation of the Architects Act.
- In the case of freelance or construction work: confirmation from the insurer of professional liability insurance in accordance with Section 11 of the Professional Code of Conduct.
- Proof of establishment / office location in Rhineland-Palatinate (e.g. rental agreement) or proof of residence in Rhineland-Palatinate, which must not be older than three months (e.g. confirmation of registration) or proof of the location of the predominant professional activity (e.g. rental agreement for office space, employment contract)
- Application for a certificate of good conduct for submission to an authority (document type O / authority code T7932), if applicable § 2 para. 2 State Ordinance on the Implementation of the Architects Act.
Note: The Architects Act contains very differentiated registration requirements (e.g. for training qualifications). On this basis, the Chamber of Architects may request further documents in addition to those mentioned (e.g. proof of nationality). Please contact the Chamber of Architects in good time.
- a place of business, residence or predominant professional practice in Rhineland-Palatinate,
- a final examination in a course of study corresponding to the relevant subject area with a standard period of study of at least four years,
- subsequent practical experience of at least two years,
proof of participation in 8 further training courses recognized by the registration committee (64 hours in total)
The fees are based on the statutes of the Rhineland-Palatinate Chamber of Architects.
The application is submitted to the Registration Committee of the Rhineland-Palatinate Chamber of Architects for a decision. The registration committee is a body with judicial independence that checks whether the requirements for registration are met.
A decision on the application must be made within the shortest possible time, but in principle within three months of receipt of the complete supporting documents at the latest.
There should be at least three months between submitting the application and taking up the planned activity.
In the case of university degrees obtained abroad, an expert opinion on the comparability of foreign educational qualifications must first be obtained.
You have the option of lodging an appeal against the decision of the registration committee with the competent administrative court. The appeal period is one month from notification of the decision.
