Here you will find information on registering with the Rhineland-Palatinate Chamber of Architects.

Pursuant to Section 3 (4) of the Architects Act, a corporation may only use a professional title pursuant to Section 3 (1) of the Architects Act, a combination thereof or a similar designation in its company name if it is entered in the register of companies under this designation.

• Articles of association (copy or publicly certified copy);
• the appointment of the managing director(s) in notarized form;
• registration in the commercial register or extract from the commercial register;

proof of sufficient professional liability insurance to cover the liability risks arising from the object of the company in accordance with Section 8 (2) of the Architects Act.

The following requirements, among others, must be met for registration:

• Registered office or branch in Rhineland-Palatinate;
• Proof of sufficient professional liability insurance;
• The object of the company must be the performance of professional duties within the meaning of Section 1 of the Architects Act;
• Regulations in the articles of association on compliance with professional duties (§ 2 Architects Act);
• At least half of the capital and voting shares as well as management authority must be held by members of the profession. The remaining shares may only be held by consulting engineers.

The fees are based on the statutes of the Rhineland-Palatinate Chamber of Architects.

The application is submitted to the Registration Committee of the Rhineland-Palatinate Chamber of Architects for a decision. The registration committee is a body with judicial independence that checks whether the requirements for registration are met.

A corporation does not become a member of the Chamber of Architects when it is entered in the company register. The professionals involved in a company are only members of the Rhineland-Palatinate Chamber of Architects as "natural persons".

A decision on the application must be made within the shortest possible time, but in principle within three months of receipt of the complete supporting documents at the latest.

There should be at least three months between submitting the application and taking up the planned activity.

You have the option of lodging an appeal against the decision of the registration committee with the competent administrative court. The appeal period is one month from notification of the decision.
