Children who were born in Germany or who moved to Germany with or to their parents as minors and who are also 16 years old and have had a residence permit for at least 5 years can apply for a permanent settlement permit.

- Rental agreement or purchase contract with details of the living space
- Joint application with the custodial parent/guardian

The requirements for a settlement permit for holders of an EU Blue Card are
- written application to the responsible immigration authority
- Valid passport or passport replacement and clarified identity
- Completion of the 16th year of age
- Possession of a residence permit for 5 years
- Education or secure livelihood through own income
- Sufficient health insurance and sufficient living space
- No criminal offenses
