Type tests are useful if a static structure of the same design is to be erected or used at several locations. The particular advantage of a type test is that the submitted stability verifications are only checked once.
In accordance with Section 75 (2) of the Rhineland-Palatinate State Building Code (LBauO), the type test is carried out by a testing office for structural analysis upon request. If the type test shows that the design complies with the regulations under public law and is suitable for the respective purpose, this is to be determined by official notice. The type approval is revocable and issued for a specific period of time, which should not exceed five years; it can be extended by up to five years in each case upon application. A copy of the construction documents bearing the approval mark must be sent to the applicant together with the type approval.
If the inspection shows that the design complies with the regulations under public law and is suitable for the respective purpose, this must be determined by official notice (Section 75 (2) sentence 2 LBauO).
The type test is carried out in accordance with Section 75 (2) of the Rhineland-Palatinate State Building Code by a testing office for structural analysis upon written application.
