Would you like to take a semester off? Then you have to apply for this at your university.

If you want to interrupt your studies, you must have this project approved by your university.

Your application must be accompanied by the relevant supporting documents for the reason for the interruption.

Reasons for interrupting studies can be, for example:

• Participation in statutory or statutory bodies (student body, Studierendenwerk)
• prolonged illness
• Care of a relative in need of care
• Maternity and parenting periods
• proper relevant study abroad for up to two semesters; this does not apply to periods of study abroad, which must be completed according to the examination regulations
• operational concerns in the context of a part-time, job-integrated or dual course of study
