Recognizing foreign professional qualifications
Anyone wishing to carry out an activity in Rhineland-Palatinate that is reserved for mine surveyors under the Federal Mining Act (BBergG) or other legal provisions requires initial recognition as a mine surveyor (recognition) by a competent mining authority (in Rhineland-Palatinate, the State Office for Geology and Mining) of a federal state. If this is not available, initial recognition must be applied for from the Rhineland-Palatinate State Office for Geology and Mining. The competent authority will check whether the requirements for carrying out these activities are met.

- a medical certificate issued by a public health officer or, in the case of applicants from another Member State of the European Union or a country treated as such under European Community law, a medical certificate required in that country or a certificate issued by the competent authority there concerning the physical and mental health of the applicant,
- a declaration that a certificate of good conduct has been applied for from the registration authority for submission to the Rhineland-Palatinate State Office for Geology and Mining; in the case of applicants from another Member State of the European Union or a state treated as such under European Community law, a document comparable to the certificate of good conduct under the legislation of that state,
- a declaration of the existing or intended place of establishment (in Germany), including branches or branch offices of the establishment.
Qualification for the higher civil service in the field of mine surveying (provided there are no grounds for refusal in accordance with Section 2 (2) of the Markscheidergesetz RLP) or an examination taken outside the Federal Republic of Germany, provided that the type and scope of the training and examination are equivalent to the training and examination for the higher civil service in the field of mine surveying.
According to time spent (pursuant to No. 10.1 of the State Ordinance on the Fees of the Mining Administration and the Geological Survey).

The initial recognition as a mine surveyor is a prerequisite in the Federal Republic of Germany in order to be able to carry out surveying activities in mining on the basis of the Federal Mining Act.
