Training in the field of child and adolescent psychotherapy includes a state examination. You must apply in writing for admission to the examination.

Proof that you have passed the examination is a prerequisite for licensure as a child and adolescent psychotherapist.

Among other things, you must enclose with your application

• Birth certificate
• Marriage certificate / civil partnership certificate (only in the case of a name change)
• Proof that you have passed the examination in the psychology degree program (which includes clinical psychology) or a certificate of equivalent training and diploma certificate (original and one copy)
• Certificate of participation in the training courses (original)
• Training contract (copy sufficient)
• 2 confirmed case presentations (1 short version and 1 long version), which have been accepted by the training center as an examination case, each in quadruplicate (on paper)

You must register in writing for the state examination as a child and adolescent psychotherapist. Use the prescribed form for this.

Submit your application with the required documents to the relevant office.

Full-time training lasts at least three years, part-time at least five years. It consists of a theoretical part, practical training with patient treatment under supervision and self-awareness and concludes with a state examination. This comprises a written and an oral part.
