Are you a tradesman and need a parking permit in the Rhine-Neckar metropolitan region? Then you need to submit an application.

The regional craftsmen's parking permit for the Rhine-Neckar metropolitan region (MRN) facilitates the work of craftsmen's businesses that frequently work at different locations in the region. Whereas they previously had to apply for a separate exemption permit for parking in public spaces for each location, since 2008 they have been able to use the regional craftsmen's parking permit, which is recognized in all districts and independent towns in the MRN. These are: Bad Dürkheim district, Bergstrasse district, Germersheim district, Neckar-Odenwald district, Südliche Bergstrasse district, Südliche Weinstrasse district, Karlsruhe district, Rastatt district, Neckar-Odenwald district, Rhein-Neckar district, Rhein-Pfalz district, the Baden-Baden urban district, independent cities of Frankenthal, Heidelberg, Karlsruhe, Landau, Ludwigshafen, Mannheim, Neustadt a. d. Weinstrasse, Speyer and Worms.

With the craftsmen's parking permit, a company in the MRN can park its service or workshop vehicle on weekdays for the duration of the work assignment in the following areas, provided there is no other parking option within a reasonable distance:

• In restricted no-stopping zones (sign 286 StVO) except loading zones and mobile signage
• In no-stopping zones (sign 290 StVO) also outside the designated areas
• In traffic-calmed areas (sign 325 StVO) outside the marked areas, as long as a vehicle with a width of 2.55 m can still pass
• At parking meters and in the area of parking ticket machines without charge
• In areas with mandatory parking disks without observing the maximum parking time
• In resident parking spaces with corresponding additional signs

Note

Parking in pedestrian zones, on disabled parking spaces or in the area of the business premises is not possible with the MRN craftsman parking permit. If an exemption permit is required for pedestrian zones, a separate application must be submitted to the road traffic authority in whose district the pedestrian zones are located.

The following documents must be submitted with the application:

• Informal application
• Copy of the trade license or business registration
• Copy of the vehicle license

Companies that meet the following criteria can apply for the craftsmen's parking permit:

• The company must be based within the Rhine-Neckar metropolitan region
• The company must be registered with either the HWK or IHK
• The company must carry out a commercial activity for which a vehicle is required in the immediate vicinity of the place of use
• The vehicles used must not exceed a permissible total mass of 7.5 t and must be suitable for use as service or workshop vehicles or for transporting materials and tools.

The administration fee is €150 per permit. This is charged for each new application.

The MRN craftsman parking permit is valid for 1 year from the date of issue. It is only issued subject to revocation at any time. In particular, it can be revoked if the safety and order of traffic is impaired or in the event of misuse.

The craftsman parking permit can be issued alternatively for up to three vehicles. In this case, three license plates are entered on the permit card. However, it is only valid for the vehicle used in which the original permit is displayed in the visible area of the windshield.
