If you install, maintain, service, repair or decommission systems containing fluorinated greenhouse gases, check them for leaks or recover the gases, you will need a certificate of competence to carry out your work.

This applies to the following activities, for example:

• Activities on refrigeration systems, air conditioning systems and heat pumps,
• work on equipment containing fluorinated greenhouse gases as solvents,
• Work on fire protection systems and fire extinguishers,
• activities on high-voltage switchgear and
• work on air conditioning systems in motor vehicles.

In order to obtain a certificate of competence, you must pass a theoretical and practical examination.

In the following cases, you must also:

• In the case of work on refrigeration and air conditioning systems and heat pumps, you must have completed technical or vocational training relevant to the activity in question and passed a theoretical and practical examination.
• In the case of work on equipment containing fluorinated greenhouse gases as solvents, you must have successfully completed technical or vocational training relevant to the activity in question and passed a theoretical and practical examination.
• In the case of work on fire protection systems and fire extinguishers, have passed a theoretical and practical examination.
• In the case of work on high-voltage switchgear, have passed a theoretical and practical examination.
• In the case of work on air conditioning systems in motor vehicles, have successfully participated in a training program.
